Methanex Egypt and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources today signed a new agreement to support Capacity Building Wave III, advancing Process Safety and Asset Integrity capabilities across Egypt’s oil, gas, and petrochemical sector.
The agreement, signed on the sidelines of EGYPES 2026, reinforces the long-standing partnership between both parties to strengthen the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems across the sector. The signing ceremony was attended by Eng.
Mahmoud Nagy, Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Undersecretary and Supervisor of HSE, Energy Efficiency, and Climate (Official Spokesperson), and Mohamed Shindy, Methanex Egypt Managing Director.
The agreement covers one element of the Ministry’s Capacity Building Wave III which delivers specialized training modules designed to strengthen process safety culture in line with industry best practices and international standards.
The program aims to enhance human capital by building competencies and strengthening a robust safety culture, aligned with the Ministry’s strategic pillars.
Reflecting on the signing, Mohamed Shindy said: “This agreement builds on our ongoing partnership with the Ministry to strengthen Process Safety across the sector.
Through initiatives like Capacity Building Wave III and our recently launched PSM professional diploma with AUC and the Ministry, we continue to support efforts that develop capabilities, nurture future leaders, and enable safer, more reliable operations across Egypt’s energy industry.
This agreement builds on years of collaboration between Methanex Egypt and the Ministry to strengthen PSM across the sector, progressing from raising awareness and establishing national PSM standards to developing professional capabilities.
A key milestone in this journey was the USD 1 million MoU signed at EGYPES 2025, which includes the AUC-Methanex professional diploma.
Last month, the first cohort graduated from the program, continuing the effort to enhance local expertise and leadership for safer and more reliable operations in Egypt’s energy industry.
